THE CAMBRIDGE HISTORY OF AFRICAN AND CARIBBEAN LITERATURA (Volume 2)

Fragata de Morais (b.1940) is a writer who has continued the ethnographic tradition of Angolan fiction. The relative new comer among Angolan writers spent many years working in theater and film in the Netherlands and Germany. After Independence the mixed-raced Fragata de Morais returned to his native Angola where he published Como Iam as velhas saber disso? (1980) (How Could the Old Women Know of This?) and A Seiva: contos angolanos (1995) (The Sap: Angolan Short Stories. Henrique Abranches in his preface to Morais's Inkuna Minha Terra (1997) (Inkuna My Homeland),  welcomes the author to the rank of those fiction writers who recreate and re-mythfy aspects of Angolan traditional cultures
